CHS Guide: Light Lunches

One of my favorite things about Charleston is the amount of spaces that are created with aesthetics and natural light in mind. Here are my top picks for light and airy spaces, with a veg-forward menu—perfect for lunch.

Basic Kitchen

Bright and airy with a fun menu that changes by the season. Perfect for the healthy foodie looking for a light lunch—cauliflower “wings” is a must, as is BK’s beet margarita or one of their fresh-made mocktails.

Butcher & Bee

A modern atmosphere that offers healthy seasonal dishes with a Mediterranean influence. Can’t decide on just one entrée? Get the mezze plate, where you can choose four veg-heavy dishes like falafel and pickles veggies. The beet veggie burger is also a major win. Plus, it comes with fries—because balance, right?

The Harbinger Café

A coffee shop with a daily selection of salads and a sandwich to order at the counter. Very homey and sweet atmosphere. Great for meeting a friend for a casual lunch, or if you want to get some non-boring veggies in your system without having to compromise. Check out Monarch Wine Merchants next door, a wine shop with great selections and class offerings.
